A long-yearned for itch that young Johnny Lyons has wanted to scratch and that of his lovely wife, Angie, who with her sisters O’Connell lifted the Irish hearts of Milwaukee in their youth, has been to play the wonderful Irish songs of yore. The last straw came last St. Patty’s day, when they and the Thompsons were out for dinner and heard the worst “Irish” band imaginable at a local Celtic pub. Something had to be done. Assembling a cast of members of Not for Profit (John, Angie, Beth, Tim, and Rich) and Soul Zimra (Gary and Andy), with super-guests Alex, Dan, Jim and Melinda, and converting the Cavern Club to its true Irish intent, The Celtniks were born! Drinking songs, beautiful lullabies, assorted silliness and stories of loss and love. Everything you expect from the land of Oscar Wilde, James Joyce and, of course, St. Patrick! We will not be satisfied unless you leave our performance with sore legs from stomping, swollen hands from clapping, and hoarse voices from singing along with us!
